A Little Celebration

[Sorry things have been quiet lately - a combination of holiday crunch and a very busy last few weeks of the year at work.]

As we start the new year, let’s celebrate a small miracle of information design in a place where it rarely exists: airline travel.

Here is an image of a boarding pass from British Airways from a recent flight (click for larger image). This is a self-printed copy from doing an online check-in process, and BA has taken full advantage of the page size to create a very nice and helpful form. The layout is logically organized, with a clear hierarchy of essential information at the top, secondary information in th emiddle, and then further instructions at the bottom. Name, flight numbers and times are all in red, everything else is knocked back in blue.

Now if only the rest of the flying experience could be as well thought out, starting with the security line “dance”…
